Israel PM Netanyahu Vows Retaliation: ‘Iran Made a Big Mistake’ After October 2024 Attack on Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the public immediately after the major Iranian missile attack of October 1, 2024. First of all, he called for condolences after a terrorist attack in Jaffa, which he directly tied to the influence coming from Tehran.
Israel’s premier swore that Iran would pay for its aggression saying that Israel’s air defense repelled the missile strike-an incident that proved advanced systems and citizen vigilance. He highlighted the continued war of Israel against the “axis of evil,” targeting enemies in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon and further, appealing for global assistance in a campaign he said will complete what began at Camp David 12 years ago against Tehran’s regime.
Netanyahu made sure that all the objectives of the war, including bringing back hostages, will be followed through and reaffirmed Israel’s intention to exist. The Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reiterated the same and urged that those who will target their missiles to Israel will get extreme consequences.
For sure, Israel will act to defend its sovereignty and against aggression as global support it gets from global allies such as the United States.
Vowing that Iran would pay a heavy price for its aggression, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Friday that the Jewish state would exact a heavy price from Iran, which fired four missiles at Israel earlier in the day.
In his address following the missile attack on Israel on Oct. 1, 2024, Netanyahu said Iran’s attack was part of a broader Iranian campaign of terrorism that included a recent attack in Jaffa. He accused Tehran of underestimating Israel’s resolve.
Netanyahu was very complimentary of Israel’s air defense systems that would intercept the missiles and thanked the citizens for vigilance and the United States for support. Netanyahu placed the conflict in the broader scope of the fight against what he described as the “axis of evil,” including hostile forces in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and especially Iran.
He stressed on the stiff determination of Israel to face this axis everywhere-from Judea and Samaria to southern Lebanon and Gaza, where the soldiers of the state of Israel are engaged.
He alerted that the struggle against Iran is not merely for security over Israel but rather, it is a call for peace over the entire world. The international community must come together to stop this regime in Iran which he was attributing as responsible for the attack of terror and unrest over the entire region.
Netanyahu maintained that Israel would achieve all the goals set for its military: the hostages abducted by the enemy, and that it would survive in the long term. He called in the poetics of Rosh Hashanah, when he wished the Israeli citizens a good safe year and then proved optimistic: Israel had the momentum, but its enemies are in retreat.
Yoav Gallant, the minister of defense, went ahead with the speeches, emphasizing that whoever attacks Israel expects to receive stern retaliation. He emphasized the upgrading nature of Israel’s defense systems and thus its capability to avoid Iranian missile assault and the confidence of its people in their nation to return blows.
This marked a major escalation of hostilities between the countries of Israel and Iran, since Netanyahu went ahead to stress Israel’s commitment to defend itself and go for countering these enemies.
Netanyahu and Gallant translated a message of strength: that Israel’s defense holds many strengths in addition to being properly supported by alliances outside the country; mainly, the U.S. But one would not say that Israel doesn’t have reasons to prepare herself to face this Iranian threat from all its sides because that process is gradually unfolding.
The speech served as an assurance to the Israeli people but stood as a stronger warning to Iran and its supporters that Israel will not back off from defending its territory and will strike with strength when it has to.
The greater implications of the conflict internationally stand with an increasing Iranian involvement and an uncompromising Israeli response; it brings about a possible escalatory stair in the already tense dynamics in place in the region.
